Profile - Dr Louise Harriss

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with 25 years experience of working in adult mental health settings across both the NHS and private practice. My experience includes working with people with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including individuals, couples and groups. I have substantial experience of providing clinical supervision in a number of contexts including NHS supervision, supervision of trainee CBT therapists as an Associate Tutor at Surrey and Sussex Universities, and private supervision of qualified Psychologists.

Having undertaken a Masters degree in Psychopathology at Cambridge University, I then completed my doctoral training in Clinical Psychology in 1995 at the University of East Anglia. Since qualifying, I worked in secondary adult mental health services in Northamptonshire and then Surrey for many years, contributing to the delivery, leadership and improvement of psychological services in mental health recovery teams. During this time I led on a number of Trust-wide projects including developing services for trauma-related dissociation.

I currently work part time in independent practice and in the NHS as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, where I am a locality lead for an Integrated Psychological Therapies team. In my private practice, I provide consultation, psychological assessment, therapy and clinical supervision.

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), Chartered with, and an Associate Fellow of, the British Psychological Society (BPS), and accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I am also an EMDR Europe accredited practitioner, and an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist.

I am in regular supervision for all of my clinical work. I practice within the codes of ethics and conduct of these professional organizations and am involved in an ongoing programme of continuing professional development.
